MetaMask, Phantom Lead Global Phishing Defense Effort After $400M in Crypto Scams
MetaMask, Phantom, and other major cryptocurrency wallets are collaborating with the Security Alliance (SEAL) to combat phishing scams, which have siphoned over $400 million from users in the first half of 2025. The initiative establishes a decentralized phishing defense network, enabling real-time threat identification and mitigation across participating platforms.
The system integrates wallets like MetaMask, Phantom, WalletConnect, and Backpack, creating a shared database of malicious sites. SEAL's verifiable reporting mechanism allows global submissions, ensuring rapid dissemination of phishing alerts. "Quicker response times will save more funds," the alliance emphasized, highlighting the urgency of curbing crypto's leading cause of asset losses.
